A Review to the Secret of Vitamin C

As the summer comes to an end, you might be thinking more about your skin. Most women at this time of year experience puffy, sunburned, dry, itchy, and dehydrated skin.

The first step to reclaiming your radiant glow is to exfoliate. The next step is to use moisturizing cream with vitamin c.

Vitamin C has long been known for its powerful anti-aging and antioxidant properties.

Antioxidant

You might be wondering what an antioxidant is. The technical definition is quite interesting but for the rest of us, it simply means a property that defends the body/skin against free radical. Antioxidant is use for the prevention of cellular damage -- the common pathway for cancer, aging, and a variety of diseases. Free radicals are the molecules that damage the cell membrane including our DNA. Our bodies natural defends are antioxidants. Free radicals can come from environmental pollution, the food we take or our lifestyle choices such as alcohol and cigarettes.

I always tell my clients that if they smoke, their Vitamin C needs increases 10 times.

What is enough?

Do you simply take Vitamin C pills and make sure your skin care contain Vitamin C? The answer is no. Not all skin care containing Vitamin C are created equal. Vitamin C can oxidized when expose to air. And it must contain at least 10% to be of benefit to the skin and must be in a container that prevents oxidation. Some companies use airless pump to prevent oxidation. Some companies mix vitamin c with other ingredients to prevent oxidation which decrease or diminish its efficacy.

In my aesthetic practice, I use professional vitamin C serum from Spain and its one of the most effective vitamin C I’ve used so far.

However, if professional products are not within your budget, affordable vitamin C products can be gotten from direct sales companies. This week, I reviewed the Dual Action Bio-C Vitamin C from Aloette and it is quite good. I like the fact that it is in powder form, so you don’t have to worry about oxidization. The only draw back is that you have to mix it with other cream before using it. This is okay as long as you use it right away.

Vitamin C is also use to brighten up mature and/or dull skin. You can always tell if the cream you bought is great by its immediate skin brightening effect.

Note: No matter how good a product is, every skin is different. The effectiveness of the product varies depending on individual type of skin and needs.
