Cooking with Epicure

My Inspiration

I have a passion for cooking. For years, I’ve experimented with new recipes, but over the last 6 months, I have found cooking without a recipe that much more enjoyable! Kind of like the Food Network: Michael Smith Chef at Home. In fact, he is the inspiration behind my new cooking method. After years of working with complex recipes, and ever since I gave birth to my first little baby, I needed to find ways of going back to basics: simplifying my meal planning down to a minimum, and adding textures which flavours food to them instead…

Spicing it Up

This is why I am fanatic about Epicure Spices. I purchased a variety of spice blends awhile back, and now they have become the forefront of my meals. If I’m making a stew out of chicken, I may decide to throw in a chilli powder mix, and I’ll toss in a little cajun spice as well. Or if I am in the mood for an Asian influenced stir-fry, I simply add their five-spice powder, and a little bit of ginger seasoning. The key to my dinner success is balancing sweet, salt, bitter and tangy/sour flavours when determining what my next meal will be. Try it out, and see what you think!

Whenever I eat, I want my chicken to taste like chicken and my potatoes to taste like potatoes. Its the hint of little spices that make meals unique! good post! I personally hate it when ppl OD too much spices, or salt and pepper.

I never cook dinner with a recipe! It's so much more fun and creative that way. Cooking should be about about trying new things and discovering complimentary flavours, not about finding obscure ingredients and deciphering instructions. That just creates more stress in the kitchen and defeats the main reason I love to cook: to have fun!

My big family isnt so much picky about what they want - but they all want something different - keeping it simple is the only way to survive mealtime stress. But I know how important texture can be - that smooth roll of a creamy sauce or the crunch of garden fresh veggies - it makes such a difference to eating!

Simplicity is the key. I may have the same basic meats; veggies & carbs available for a week's use but how to differ one meal from tomorrow's can be a challenge. Yes, one way is the use of different spices. For instance rice is basic in Asian cuisine tonight; but for tomorrow, I add Saffron and the makings of Paella for a Spanish flavour; mussels prawns for texture...

I couldn't agree more! I enjoy buying a steak then imagining all of the ways it can be transformed into so many creative and interesting dishes with the addition of different sauces or spices. Simplicity really is where I can hone my basic skillset and delight in making a succulent feast out of a $3 steak and $1.50 of starch and vegetables, focusing mainly on the dynamics of even heat and fine slicing.

I love Epicure products as well. I find that Hosting a Tasting Party is the way to go. I love being able to get friends and family together. I find that Epicure and The Pampered Chef products compliment each other. I love having Epicure/Pampered Chef shows.

Yum! Your dish looks so delicious! I too LOVE the Epicure Spices and cook with them every day! My favourites by far - the roasted garlic, fajita seasoning, garlic sea salts and potato toppers. Yumm.
