When summer is over, it’s time to warm things up a bit and get our homes ready for those comfortable, long, cozy nights by the fire.
But the thought of redecorating can be daunting for most of us. So here are some simple tips that you can try to cozy up your home.
Throw Pillows
Pillows are my favourite ways to pop some colours into my living room. I have different pillow cases in various colours that I alternate as my mood changes.
Rugs
I love bare floors during the summer months so I can see the sun’s reflections as it shines on my floor. But come fall season, I pull out my rug from the storage for display. Rugs can dramatically change the look and feel of a room. Look for inspiration from the Floors USA website. It has the biggest design collection that I’ve ever seen.
Throw Blankets
There’s something about a warm blanket on a chair that makes me just want to snuggle up by the fire. It’s the easiest way to play up the season. I have a knitted throw in a chocolate colour for fall, and I change it to bright red during Christmas time.
Shades & Curtains
I love the sun, so I don’t use many curtains in the summer. I prefer to let the breeze in with sheer curtains. But in the fall, I change it back to a thicker one to help keep the heat in.
Scented Candles
Candles offer anyone that walks into your house a warm, rich, and inviting scent that will instantly turn your home into a cozy sanctuary. It’s perfect for your kitchen and hallways.
